Hi, I’m Kathy. I’m a creative director, designer, illustrator and lifelong idea person who’s spent more than 35 years turning rough sketches, random thoughts and “wait…what if we did this?” moments into real products and collections.
I’ve created work for Disney, Warner Bros., Sanrio, Peanuts and other well-known brands. I’ve led creative teams, designed licensed products and taken ideas from the first scribble all the way to something people could actually buy.
These days, I split my creativity between three businesses.
Through iDesign Solutions, I help small-business owners stop second-guessing every font, photo and product idea. I create tools, templates, guides and AI prompts that make creative decisions easier—especially when you’re the one doing everything.
Keep Smilin Design is where my love of dogs, illustration and giftable products all meet. It’s personal, playful and made for people who fully understand that the dog is part of the family. Possibly the favorite part.
I also work alongside my husband on Optique Unique, our independent optical boutique in Metuchen, New Jersey. I help shape the brand, the visuals and the customer experience so it feels personal, polished and very different from walking into a chain store.
Three businesses may sound like a lot.
Honestly, my brain has never believed in staying in one lane.
But the thread between all of them is pretty simple. I can look at a messy idea and see what it could become.
A stronger product. A clearer story. A business that finally looks as good as the idea behind it.
That’s the part I love most—helping good ideas take shape.
WHY I CREATED IDESIGN
I created the kind of creative support small businesses rarely get.
For most of my career, I worked inside established creative teams where there was always a process behind the design.
There was research. Direction. Editing. Someone asking the useful questions before everyone raced toward the prettiest answer.
Small-business owners are expected to make those same decisions alone — often while also handling sales, marketing, customer service, and everything else on Tuesday’s list.
So I created iDesign Solutions to give them a simpler way forward.
Through practical tools, templates, prompts, guides, and creative decision systems, I help business owners move from:
“I have too many ideas and don’t know what works.”
to:
